How we can help
Here at School Safety Spot, our goal is to provide a "Best Practices" approach to school safety, in an effort to improve Educational Duty of Care. Our team has a diverse portfolio with access to experts in many fields to support any area of focus. We are committed to supporting all school safety professionals in keeping their communities safe.
Desk-top Audits / Procedure Reviews
Are you in the process of preparing for accreditation or needing to make sure your documents are all in line for an internal audit or insurance review? Or is it time to review the environmental response plans or the Child Safeguarding Policy? If it’s just one or ten documents, we can take a look and see how they measure up to current best practices. Our team has a diverse portfolio with access to experts in many fields to support any area of focus.
On-Site Safety, Safeguarding and Security audits & gap analysis
Conducting a comprehensive school safeguarding security and safety audit, coupled with an onsite gap analysis, ensures a proactive approach to identifying vulnerabilities. This strategic assessment aims to enhance the overall safety framework, pinpointing potential risks, and fortifying protective measures. By reviewing existing protocols, infrastructure, and emergency response plans, the audit seeks to align the school environment with best practices. Through this process, we support your school in creating a safe and secure environment for all of your stakeholders.
Document Development
A staff member asks, “What is the process for getting a visitor on campus” and often times there is a simple answer, but it’s not written down. Do you have a campus risk assessment or a bus accident response plan? What about a student safeguarding policy or campus access guidelines? If you don’t have a Standard Operating Procedure manual School Safety Spot has a well-tested template we use to guide you on what is needed and where it should be located. Having clearly documented process, procedures, and guidelines help keep things running smoothly and consistently.
Health Clinic Audit and System Review
Setting up a service to meet the overall health needs of staff, students (including boarders), and visitors. Reviewing existing practices and suggesting improvements for best and safe practices. Identifying vulnerable students and having clinic-specific safeguarding procedures in place. Guidance on available resources, documentation, professional development opportunities, and support services for health professionals.Discuss Lone working policy, nurses accompanying trips, medical cover for large meetings on campus (academic and sporting), and first aiders.
Playground Safety Reviews
Research shows Playgrounds are very beneficial to the development of children, and are increasingly being installed in schools as a result. Correct installation reduces the level of risk, but equipment still requires regular inspections as outlined by RoSPA in accordance with European standards. Reviewing current equipment will help identify potential hazards and control measures, while guidance on future playground projects will ensure hazards are eliminated at the planning stage, reducing costs further down the line.
US Embassy Grant Application Support
Assistance in connecting with US Embassy Regional Security Office personnel in the region. School site visits to review plans and assess grant criteria in relation to the grant proposals. Assist your procurement team in developing Request for Information (RFIs) Request for Quote (RFQs) and the like to help select a vendor that has been vetted by other schools and has adequate experience. Work with the selected vendor to assist them in product selection that meets grant requirements.
Incident Reviews
Have you had an incident in your school community, internal or external, where you are looking for an independent assessment? Often times it’s hard to make a non-biased assessment of fellow colleagues' actions or internal procedures you have helped develop. You need trusted experts to help you evaluate the incident to determine the immediate causes so quick fixes can be put in place. Then determining the root and underlying causes helps prevent similar situations from occurring in the future.

Safety Audit and Procedure development
School Safety Spot was onsite working with ISB's CFO/COO to review current practices and procedures and identify areas of risk from an operational and safety lens. We are continuing our work with ISB to help them update their Standard Operating Procedure Manual
Incident review and Emergency Procedure development
School Safety Spot was contracted to assist with an incident review in partnership with the ISC leadership team. From that review, we are working to establish a well-defined safety and operations manual to include emergency response plans.
